At PunchStrong we follow many martial arts, including Karate and Brazilian Jiujitsu.
Both these arts have very different roots and evolutions of the discipline over the years.
Focusing on BJJ, this is a modern martial art and has a flowing relaxed mentality. Like most martial arts the dedication is more of a lifestyle choice and a way of life, rather than a part-time hobby.
Part of the BJJ lifestyle is the Meerkatsu brand.
The brain child of Seymour Yang, Meerkatsu.com is a place for BJJ apparel reviews as well as the trademark Meerkatsu designs, which adorn a vast number of BJJ clothing designs. These designs are produced for many fight clothing brands and Meerkatsu directly.
Seymour is a talented illustrator as well as a fellow blogger and has been blogging since July 2004.
The Meerkatsu designs capture the flow and mentality linked to the BJJ lifestyle perfectly, making Meerkatsu designs a popular choice on and off the mats.
Many of the images produced focus on the animal kingdom with a BJJ twist. This twist seems to link with the beasts we find in the hearts and souls of Jiujitsu practitioners when rolling on the mats, which helps understand the popularity of the brand.
Not only can you find honest reviews for new gi’s and other BJJ related gear, but Seymour has used his reviews to now produce his very own gi. This gi is a tailored cut and incorporates some heavenly designs, and subsequently named the “Heavenly Kimono”. The launch of which has been very popular even with the slimmer fit.
It is great to see a brand so integrated into the sport and also so well regarded. So much so a number of people now have tattoos of Meerkatsu designs. This regard for a brand is something at PunchStrong we haven’t yet seen with other martial arts.
This is not an intended fan fair for Meerkatsu, at PunchStrong we have no affiliation with Seymour, this is just a review and our opinions on the brand.
That being said it is very difficult to keep an unbiased view of Meerkatsu as at PunchStrong we are big fans of the designs… So Seymour please keep them coming and we look forward to the next creations.comments powered by Disqus
